Already popular with European carriers, it is undergoing a major expansion programme with the development of the new Sao Goncalo Do Amarente Airport ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The new airport will be the largest physical airport in Latin America, servicing both international trade distribution and international tourism.
