São João Festival comes to João Pessoa

Hailed as one of the best festivals in the Northeast held in the city of João Pessoa, the greenest city in the country and the easternmost of the Americas, the São João Pra Valer 2015 provided locals and tourists with a range of festivities including dance, music in the form of singers and bands as well as a wide range of food stalls.

The celebration of this most popular party in the country was held on 23 and 24 June and according to Funjope about 40,000 people attended in two days. In addition there were bands and bonfires in the days 17, 18 and 19 leading up to the main events.

The Brazilian Association of Hotels of Paraiba Industry (ABIH-PB), who provide for an increase in occupancy of tourists from different parts of Brazil visiting João Pessoa, estimated that hotel occupancy was in excess of 65%.

"It is a year that is difficult to provide for growth in any industry, so the estimate of this year which provides an equal occupation of the past year leaves us satisfied, "explained José Inacio Junior, president of ABIH-PB.

Also according to José Inacio Junior, João Pessoa manages to attract the interest of tourists because of the proximity to the June itineraries such as St John of Campina Grande and cities of Heath, and also because of the natural beauty and recreational options the city features.
